by Head for Dreams

Falling dreams are the most frequent among all the common dreams we experience in our lifetime. Researchers say the average human will dream about falling to his death more than 5 times in their life. These dreams can be extremely frightening and vivid, that lasts minutes before you hit the ground. Dreams of this nature tend to wake you up before you hit the bottom. For the most part, whenever we dream of falling, we have lost control in some aspect in our daily life that needs to be corrected.

Reasons For Falling Dreams?

One theory suggests that you may have lost control over a particular situation in your life. Though to identify you might have to do some thinking to what it might be linking too. This can be linked to relationships, workplace, school or home life. Falling can imply both internal or external issues that have been neglected. Depending on the context of the dream it can point to different areas that need to be analysed. Writing down as much detail of your dream can help decode it a lot easier by thinking in metaphors.

Falling Dreams Before Sleep

A hypnagogic jerk is an involuntary muscle spasm that occurs as a person is ready to drift off to sleep. This phenomenon is so named about the hypnogogic state the transitional period between wakefulness and sleep. Hypnagogic jerks are also known as hypnic jerks or sleep starts. This may scare the average healthy person but it is quite a common occurrence. According to the American Academy of Sleep say there are many reasons why one experiences these disturbances. If the person is suffering from stress, depression, anxiety, sugar overload or caffeine in the evening. Hypnic jerks can also happen during R.E.M sleep.

Types Of Falling Dreams

Losing Balance

Dreams of losing balance suggest that the problem lays within you. You are not stable at this moment and need grounding in your life. You need to find ways to become more confident with people and with yourself. Who was around you when you lost balance? The location and the people around you might give you a hint of what to look out for.

Pushed

Did someone push you? Could that person be the cause of being pushed to your limits? Where are you when you are being pushed? Did you plummet to your death? Are you overworking yourself? Do you feel that you are doing something against your will? How did you feel before and after you where pushed? If you don’t recognise the person then it could suggest that you might be a pushover in life, or you are pushing yourself too hard. Usually, when we can’t see the person it might be repressed aspects of our selves we don’t want to look at. This can tie into our shadow figure, the mask we don’t want to take off.

You might be in a position in your life where you are not in full control and it is unconsciously affecting your path. You might want to explore different areas in your life where you feel you are just hanging on, or if you feel someone has the upper hand on you. How did the dream scenario play out? Using the symbols in metaphors helps us distinguish a clearer meaning.
